Vatalanib (PTK787) is an inhibitor to VEGF receptor/KDR, VEGF receptor/Flt-1, VEGF receptor/Flk, c-Kit and PDGFR-βVEGFR with IC50 of 0.037 μM, 0.077 μM, 0.27 μM, 0.73 μM and 0.58 μM, respectively. PTK-787 binds to and inhibits the protein kinase domain of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors 1 and 2; both receptor tyrosine kinases are involved in angiogenesis. This agent also binds to and inhibits related receptor tyrosine kinases, including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) receptor, c-Kit, and c-Fms. [1][2]
